Why we are the different than other photographers:

  • Well first of all, we have no sitting fees! Besides our 14 years of experience of shooting almost 800 family portrait sessions, the biggest advantage of choosing Outer Banks Production is that we give you a professional experience with just one price and that’s it. We hate sitting fees and all the hidden additional charges that many other photographers charge. Do understand that with all these pricing models, it’s also very hard to compare your total cost so take your time and try to figure it all out!
  • We listen well and we always look forward to all of your special shot requests.
  • We are very pet and prop friendly! (We love pets & props!)
  • We offer the best image editing on the OBX, using color corrected monitors and finely tuned custom filters!
  • We always offer candid shots as a bonus as long as time allows.
  • No other photography company knows the OBX local weather like we do. Being experienced pilots, our short term weather prediction strategies yields us a 99.99% success rate with every session each year. (That’s really true and really good!)

Family Photography Rodanthe The Van Noort Family

We had a perfect day in August for portraits on the beach in Rodanthe, NC. The Van Noorts traveled here all the way from South Dakota. They were such a fun family to work with as you will see in the photos. They used a variety of blues, whites and khakis for their photo shoot. A little bit of color can make your photos really stand out.

Rodanthe Family Beach Portraits

We were so thankful to work with such a great group this past summer. The Kelly family stayed in the Rodanthe area of the Outer Banks. We were scheduled to shoot their portraits on a beautiful evening in July the week after the big fireworks. We love the lighting that occurs right before sunset-it’s so beautiful!

We try to schedule our sessions 1.5 hours to 2 hours before sunset to capture the best lighting. The evening is a wonderful time because most people are off of the beach and the beach cools down after a long hot day. We were able to take some many wonderful portraits that night. I wish we could share them all with you. Here is a small sample from their beautiful Rodanthe family portrait session.

Rainy Duck Family Beach Portraits

We had a wonderful family visiting the Duck,NC area on the Outer Banks in August of 2014. Unfortunately, the rain threw a wrench in our plans to do beach portraits. We did get the opportunity to run out to the beach during a break in the rain and get the group photo, grand parent and grand kids and then the matriarch and patriarch photo. Unfortunately, the rain kicked in and we had to run off the beach. We did try to wait it out but the rain just kept building in and didn’t stop till the sun was down.

It would be great if we could stay out when it rained. The only problem is that the equipment gets wet (and ruined) and it often gets dark from cloud cover when it is raining. The water spots show up on everyone’s clothes and hair gets unmanageable and can look greasy or wet in the photos. The family’s house was not waterfront and it was quite small inside so we took the photos on the deck of the club house that was by the beach access. It was very important to get family photos and we had fun doing it. The rain couldn’t keep this family or photographer down!

Corolla Family Beach Portraits Photographers

The Hensinger family was visiting the Corolla area of the Outer Banks all the way from Massachusetts.  They had a large group of 18 people. Eight of them were some of the cutest little ones. As we were taking pictures of the kids I wish I could have captured a good photo of the adults behind me jumping up and down.
The family chose a traditional white and khaki look for their family beach portraits. We were able to take pictures with the dunes in the background as well as with the ocean in the background. We were blessed with such a beautiful sky and the kids did a wonderful job. Bribery can work wonders when working with lots of little kids 😉
This was truly a wonderful session.
